The sunburst is a popular design for Yule ornaments in Sweden. Because the number of folds and cuts vary, no two sunbursts are alike. Make small sunbursts in white and metallic papers for the Yule tree, or larger ones in yellow and orange to hang in a window on a sunny day.
supplies
paper
scissors
glue
string
large stapler
Cut a piece of paper twice as tall as it is wide. (The one in the picture is 6 inches by 12 inches.) Fold the paper back and forth, accordion style. The folds should be small and the same size. Staple the folded paper in the middle.
Cut away the corners and cut out shapes along the sides. Open the paper on both sides of the staple to form fans.
Glue or paste the fans together to form a circle. Tie string into a cut-out shape and hang.
